Because Foster Fails are the BEST Fails in life

Screen Shot 2018-01-24 at 2.54.12 PMOn the 2nd of January 2018, late in the afternoon a 7-month old Baby Girl was surrendered to Dogtown… I volunteered to Foster her until we could find her a forever home. On our way home, Daphne (as I named her) was sitting on the backseat, panting, looking out the window and I could see the fear in her eyes. My heart broke in a million pieces, in my heart I knew she was in the best hands but how do I reassure her that everything will be ok?

How do I tell her that she doesn’t need to be scared? So, in the car the only thing I could think of was to sing to her, but what do I sing? The first song that came in my head was “I can’t help falling in love with you” from Elvis Presley, I have no idea why this specific song came in my head but it did. I am not sure if it made her feel better but I definitely felt better.

So, as we got home I had a thousand questions running through my head again… Is she going to like my other dogs or will everything be too scary and overwhelming for her? AND… then… the following happened… As I placed her on the grass she gave my dogs one look, gave a play bow and started playing with them :) I couldn’t believe it is the same dog that I had in my car half an hour ago. She was absolutely in heaven, running, jumping, exploring and playing like a happy, stress-free dog.

Screen Shot 2018-01-24 at 2.41.56 PMShe crept into our hearts, our home and she fitted into out household beautifully. The thought of losing her broke my heart, so 3 days later I filled in the adoption papers. Now, almost 3 weeks later she turned into a real “Daddy’s Girl” but if you ask me I think it’s because of the midnight snacks Daphne and her Daddy enjoy. She has learned that “Sit” means yummy food is coming and promptly 5’oclock is playtime :)

Many people have slogans and posters saying “Adopt don’t shop”, but what does it really mean? It means that your life is changed forever, the love that rescue animals give you is love you will not find anywhere else. It means that you have saved one soul that did not have a home. It means that you are helping wonderful people trying to change the world one adoption at a time, definitely making you a special kind of human.

I have one wish for 2018… I want people to Adopt, Foster, Volunteer and make this cruel world a better place by helping and loving rescue animals. You will not only be changing rescue animal’s lives but they will definitely be changing your life for the better.
