Woodrock Kilimanjaro 2017 Adventure – Nov 2017

WOODROCK KILIMANJARO 2017 ADVENTURE!

Woodrock is excited to announce a new adventure challenge to Kilimanjaro in 2017. This new fundraising initiative will be undertaken in conjunction with Adventure Dynamics International “ADI” and will be led by internationally renowned mountaineer and guide, Sean Disney, in October/November 2017. We are looking for a team of 25 climbers to join the Woodrock Kilimanjaro Challenge.  We aim to raise R500 000 for the Woodrock Clinic Dream project.

ADVENTURE DYNAMICS INTERNATIONAL
ADI has been leading and guiding trips up Kilimanjaro for over 20 years.  They offer climbers an experience that allows them to enjoy the beauty of Kilimanjaro in safety and relative comfort.  Climbing Kilimanjaro for charity is more than just reaching the summit of Africa’s highest mountain.  It’s an adventure with a group of like-minded people to achieve a common goal, pushing your mind and body to new limits. ADI offers all routes on Kilimanjaro.

THE MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE
Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania looms above the African plains and is the highest freestanding mountain on earth. Its altitude is 5,895 meters, offering beauty and challenge to those who wish to climb her. Kilimanjaro is situated 330kms south of the equator, close to the Indian Ocean. Its size and height strongly influence the climate and thus its vegetation, animal life and the climbing conditions. Her volcanic history has left igneous features like none other and her cone is a unique environment of great interest. It’s about the thrill and satisfaction of living your dreams.

THE PACKAGE
The trip entails 7 days of climbing and 2 days of travel. The cost is around USD 2 400 plus the airfare of around ZAR 9 000. These amounts depend on exchange rates and cost of flights at the time.

FUNDRAISING COMPONENT OF THE EXPEDITION
Each climber who joins our 2017 Kilimanjaro Challenge must raise a minimum of R10 000 sponsorship from friends and colleagues, in support of Woodrock. We would also like to attract some major expedition sponsors.
