Looking back on our newbies of 2018
What a year 2018 was for us in terms of newbies. We welcomed not one, not two but 110 new furkids to the Dogtown family in 2018! Yes, 110!!!
Our intakes came from all over the country, some rescued as strays, sadly some returns, some who we took in from other rescue centres and some from less than ideal circumstances and of course, owner surrenders But no matter where these dogs came from or what their history is, we welcomed each one of them with open arms and we are and will be committed to helping them for their entire lives
Welcoming 110 new faces to Dogtown did of course not come without challenges. We had to somehow find the funds to do sterilizations, vaccinations, deworming, micro-chipping and dipping as they arrived. That is of course not where it ends, the monthly costs of proper medical care, proper food, life enrichment, follow up vaccinations, having qualified staff to do behaviour assessments and daily training …. the list goes on and on but they are worth it, every single one! While we carry on with our struggle to secure funding, these furkids get to enjoy their new chapters, their second chance in life.
We are happy to announce that many of the new intakes of 2018 have since been adopted and living their tailor made happy ever after already We believe that 2019 will bring many more happy ever afters for those who are still waiting.
