Hello, my name is Blom!

We found Blom and her 8 puppies on the 4th of August, lying underneath a bush in the veld, near the reserve office. The puppies eyes were still closed. As there was no-one who could help, I was mad enough to take them in. (The AWSS took the puppies when they were 8 weeks old.)
Blom and her pups had to be dewormed repeatedly, as they all had a terrible worm-infestation. During those first weeks Blom also had non-stop diarrhoea. When she was sterilized, the vet did some tests and found that her kidneys are not functioning as it should, but that was not the cause of the continuous diarrhoea (she probably was just not used to proper food). After weeks of being fed on Hills I.D. tinned food and slowly introducing Hills Adult dry food to her diet, her stomach has now settled.
As I have 3 dogs and 2 cats of my own, the intention never was to keep Blom, but somehow these things happen. So during the day she is part of the “household”, but she sleeps in the laundry so that my cat has a chance to come inside for the night.
Blom is very affectionate and very playful and she loves to run after a ball. The vet reckons that she is about 2 years old. But unfortunately there have now been 4 incidents where she has fought with my 2 smaller dogs, who are also smaller than her. Blom is submissive towards my German Shephard, who is bigger (and older – 13 years) than her.
I am sure that she will be fine where she is either the only dog, or the smaller of two.
