Duke is a black and white Pekingese who turned 13 on the 6th of August. He is a timid boy who has unfortunately been through a few homes although every home rehomed him for human reasons like relocation or not having enough time for him.

He was a very frightened chap when he arrived at his last home and it took quite some time for him to adapt. To this day he still ducks his head when you try to pat it. He is still afraid of travelling in a car and of sudden loud noises, but is otherwise a happy dog.

Duke is on thyroid medication and needs a home where this will be continued. Other health issues are his back. If he should climb stairs or jump on the furniture he will be sore and require Rimadyl although he has gotten used to being predominantly on the floor unless picked up.

Duke is playful and especially loves his ball and his little yellow hedgehog toy which he will run after with delight, but not bring back. He is quite possessive then and only when he gives it up can you throw it again.

He does NOT get on with cats and will chase them ferociously.

He would love to go to a home with another female Pekingese or another small canine friend.
