Dear Barking Mad Team
UNBELIEVABLE NEWS!. Our pet Clarina X Ridgeback HAS BEEN FOUND, alive, AFTER ALMOST ONE YEAR.
She was found on 22nd January 2021 in Pretoria North, Garden area. A lady spotted a dog trying to cross the very busy Van der Hoff Road in Pretoria North. She called out to the dog who responded.
The lady (I now know named Rene) took her into the store where the owner gave her something to eat and drink. Clarina had a large car seat belt around her neck keep together with a wire and is malnourished. Seemed she had escaped from somewhere.
The animal shelter called was full, couldn’t take her in but recommended another shelter ‘One Stop Animal Rescue’. Although full too, the owner Mandy (for some reason) decided to go out and collect the dog. On collection she recalled pictures of the missing dog. The unique formation of hair on Clarina’s back had stuck with her when pictures where sent to her months ago. On scanning Clarina, found a chip and made contact with my daughter Samantha.
As my daughter had moved back home to Cape Town, arrangements had to be made to get her home
Mandy who is also a vet, bathed her, dewormed, treated her for fleas and ticks as she was infested with it.. We discussed her travel back to Cape Town to re-unite with the family. Mandy housed her for a couple of days and insured she was well enough to travel. We contacted ‘Fallen Angels Shelter/ Rescue’, Cape Town where Clarina was adopted from. They quickly connected us to someone who transports animals from city to city.
Clarina arrived home safely late yesterday evening 26 January in Cape Town. She is now re-united with us her family.
We give thanks to everyone who is part of this miracle put together. The lady Rene, store owner Carlos who made the call, Mandy from One Stop Animal Rescue, Pretoria, Fallen Angels Shelter/Rescue , Cape Town and Patricia from the Animal Transport Company.
We give GREAT THANKS to you Barking Mad Team, and platforms like yours who have kept Clarina’s missing profile up-dated over the months. Thank you to face book community forums and other platforms that upload and update missing pets profiles.
I will like to end by saying how important it is to have ones animal MICRO-CHIPPED, spayed or neutered. Also I would like to encourage all pet owners with missing pets not to give up hope of finding them.

She went missing on 7 February 2020, from a housing complex Zambesi Manor Lifestyle Estates, Pretoria, Roodeplaat.
She is predominately black with some tan and white paws.
On her back is a unique hair formation.
