Hello, my name is Romeo!

More about me

Male (Large). Great Dane X. Adult - DOB: .

Shelter: (Gauteng)
Tel: 082 612 5348

“Romeo had never known the gentle loving touch of a caring human, spent his life on a cold concrete floor and had never known what it felt like to sleep on a warm soft bed, and only experienced pain from his abuse and condition before I saved him, how heartbreaking to have endured all that!! But he formed a very strong bond with me when he realized that not all humans are bad, and now too with his foster mom, and all Romeo wants and needs now urgently is an exceptionally loving home with somebody super special who will love him forever and for the awesome loving boy he is, and never have to look back on those dark ugly days ever again”

Romeo is an extremely loving Great Dane X that is currently in the care of Lyn Gardiner – Great Dane Rescue. He is approximately 5 years old and has been well socialized with other dogs. He is also house-trained. Romeo has been badly abused throughout his life and as a result has developed health conditions that are treatable but will involve additional expenses for his new owners. He also has specific dietary requirements. Romeo will need to live indoors as part of the family and must have human companionship during the day. Ideally, he will be rehomed with a larger breed female companion.

Romeo is affectionate and loves attention. He has the Great Dane attributes that make him a “big baby”. He is not an overbearing dog and spends much of his day sleeping or stretched out in the sun. He under-activity is mostly due to his arthritis. Romeo is a submissive dog that responds well to commands such as “sit” and “stay” – he also loves to “ta paw”. Due to his abusive background and the pain that he suffers, Romeo can be nervous at times and may react to being touched on certain parts of his body. Due to this behavior, a home without small children would be the best environment for Romeo. Getting to know Romeo will take time, patience and a lot of understanding however follow-up support will be ongoing for Romeo’s new family for as long as necessary. Romeo is the epitome of a rescued dog who is now waiting for his Angel of Mercy to love him forever more.

Despite Romeo”s history and the pain that he has experienced and continues to live with he is still loyal, affectionate and caring towards humans. Each day is beautiful for many pets with loving families. Romeo deserves to know this love and happiness too.

Strict rehoming procedures will apply for this special boy, which will include an application process and home checks and an adoption fee.
