Crosby – The treasure at the end of the Rainbows

“Raising a dog is like a rainbow.

Puppies are the joy at one end. Old dogs are the treasure at the other”

A00_5861  When I read this quote, I immediately thought of my old boy Crosby. He is definitely a treasure to be loved and cherished!

Even though his steps may be slower, he still has so much of life to live and love to share. Crosby lives for today. He appreciates everything we as his carers do for him.

He is the sweetest and friendliest boy I have ever met! It takes a long time for a soul to become this sweet, and he is special and sweet since the day he came to Dogtown. He has his own special blend of charms. When I feel sad, he will gently put his head on my knee. He always looks at me with eyes full of love, like I’m the greatest joy in his life. His face may be greying, but his smile is still so bright!

I can’t even begin to explain my love for this old dog – it’s just so wonderful to care for him, loving him and trying to make life easier for him, knowing his family has forsaken him, left him outside in the cold during winter and knowing he was born with hip and shoulder dysplasia along with spondylosis, which makes it even worse imagining what he went through 🙁 But that is all in the past now.

Dogs have a special way of finding the people who need them and filling an emptiness we don’t even know we had.

IMG_6989I believe that Crosby found me…………and he completed something in me…

Now it’s payback time and I must pay back the favour. I need to find him his forever home and family before winter sets in, for his old body would suffer in the cold and if there is a family who finds it in their hearts to give him a warm loving home to let his old body rest, don’t hesitate! Come get him asap….., please!

I can promise you this…..

He’ll be your smile when you feel sad. If you cry, he will be your comfort. He’ll always be by your side. His affection is timeless, his devotion is ageless, his love is forever…..
