When Life Gives You Lemons
When Life Gives You Lemons
When things start to get overwhelming for us, like the current financial situation I always try and bring a little positive light into the situation to help us over the dark times. When rescuing furry ones there are always so many beautiful beams of light. They are always so forgiving and trusting. Trust that often gets them into trouble but they never give up on their human. For them, unlike most humans their bond is forever. This month 10 beautiful souls had a happy ending and got to finally have a furever family of their own. When I think about where they came from and get pics of them chilling on the couch with their families, the beautiful emotions that run through my body are astounding. They should be for each of you to because YOU are the guys that allow us to do this, you are the ones with your continued support who help us turn around these little ones lives.
This month Xavi who was found hanging with her foot impaled on a palisade fence is now snuggled with a new friend in a loving home.
Sadie and Asia whose previous family went through a terrible time of abuse are both now playing happily with her new families.
Frejya whose dad fell on hard times is now settled in her loving new home.
Brownies previous home told the Gardner to get rid of him and lucky for him the Gardner was a good person and Brownie found his way to Dogtown and went from One families rubbish to another families treasure.
Who can forget our beautiful soul Juno we were all ecstatic when he found his home years ago only to be returned years later much to our sadness but the stars aligned and Juno has found himself a new mamma who loves him dearly already. We’re all praying it’s 3rd time the charm for our junobug. Then cuddles who truly lives up to his name who came to us after struggling g to settle in another shelter. Didn’t take long to win over the dogtown team and fortunately for him, his new mamma where he is now getting his regular dose of cuddles. Then the last but certainly not least doggie to head home this month was our loveable Loki.
So you see so many sad beginnings with happy endings. That’s what we need to focus on, that’s what gets us out of bed everyday, to work our hardest to make sure nothing like that ever happens to them again, to restore their faith in humans and to find them the people that will appreciate that unconditional love. That’s what YOU help us achieve.
We even rescued 2 kittens this month and our little kitties of Dogtown found loving homes too. How cool is that?
We had 11 new intakes this past month also, which sadly failed to decrease the number of dogs in our care. But that’s ok, you know why ? Because between all of us we are going to find these beautiful dogs their happy endings to. No matter what, we’re going to do our utmost to make sure that we continue to save more lives. We’re going to remind ourselves of the great work we do and the lives we save. With your help we will save more lives and we will continue to be the kind of sanctuary we can all be proud of.
One way you could really take the financial burden off us is if you could sign up for a debit order no matter what the amount. This allows us to know what funds are coming in, so we don’t get left in the lurch like we did this past month, when we ended up R60000 short for our expenses. Now I dont have to tell you that’s a lot of moola to be short, which produced a lot of stress. As much as we want to expand and do more. The current financial market is not giving us the go ahead for that to happen but if we can at least keep up the incomparable care of the current number of dogs we will be happy with that until we can find a way of finding more awesome people like you to help us save more. Email email@example.com to sign up for a debit order – no amount is too small
Happy May townies, let’s hope the month of Mother’s Day shines its light on Dogtown.

P.S During this time of financial struggles we realised that people thought the food from the barkingmad click to feed comes to Dogtown. This is certainly not the case. We created the click to feed, before Dogtown was a reality. This was created to help OTHER rescue groups around the country. So when Dogtown came about, we thought its unfair for us to benefit from these food donations. So Dogtown receives no food from the click to feed project. We pay for our food ourselves and Yankee Candle so generously covers a third of our food bill each month.
